Reasons to be Careful: Disbarred Lawyer Arranged 21 Fake Divorces

A former Barrister has been ordered to pay indemnity costs to the Queen's Proctor for fraudulently arranging divorces for 21 couples between 2006 and 2015.

Khalik Bhatoo submitted the fraudulent divorce petition using false addresses in Southall.

The decrees thereby obtained are now all void, irrespective of whether either of the parties has subsequently remarried or had children (Grasso v Naik, 2017 EWHC 2789 Fam).
