Christopher Parker

Christopher Parker is a practising Barrister with over 25 years’ experience in general Chancery, having been called to the Bar by the Inner Temple in 1984.  After his pupillage and a period of sole practice in Chambers he worked for Chattertons, Solicitors, in Lincolnshire from 1987 to 1997, then within the Trusts & Estates Department of Halliwell Landau in Manchester from 1998 to 2006 and most recently with Lane-Smith & Shindler LLP, Solicitors and Trust & Estate Practitioners, from 2006 to 2011.  Member and Examiner for STEP. His general Chancery experience has been mainly, though not exclusively, non-contentious work: all aspects of advising and drafting on such matters as the creation of wills and settlements with associated tax planning, the construction of trusts, wills and charities with related questions of administration, real and personal property, partnerships, companies, landlord and tenant. Contentious work: bringing, defending and settling claims and making applications to the court up to and including the hearing.

Christopher Parker (jointly with Geoffrey Shindler) is also the author of the chapter on Categories of Trust in Tolley’s Administration of Trusts.  He wrote the chapter on the joint ownership of chattels, stocks and shares, bank and building society accounts in Tottel’s Practitioner’s Guide to Joint Property and writes casenotes for the Wills & Trusts Law Reports as well as occasional articles and talks on various trust and estate issues for publications and lectures sponsored by the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
