A widow has won her claim for reasonable provision from her late husband’s estate after he left her only an annuity, a few chattels and limited occupation rights in their two jointly owned houses.
Sheffield businessman Roy Lilleyman had been married to Barbara Lilleyman for only two years before his premature death, and left most of his £6m estate to his two sons from his first marriage. The England and Wales High Court granted his widow’s claim to full title to both properties but it said the case resembled “big money/short marriage” disputes in divorce litigation and rejected her request for a further £1,500,000 in cash.
