After studying law at Christ Church, Oxford, Julian started his career at one of the large law firms in the City of London. He qualified as a solicitor in 1974.
He came back to Oxford and joined Herbert & Gowers (one of the predecessor firms of HMG LAW) in 1977, becoming a partner in 1981. He headed the litigation department for the best part of 30 years.
By the time of his retirement from full time practice Julian had become the firm’s senior partner. He has in the course of the years been a member of and Secretary to the Thames Valley Commercial Lawyers Association, a board member of the Nationwide Independent Solicitors Group, a director of Thames Valley Business Advice Centre and a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
Now he works as a consultant to the firm (part time) but continues to act for clients old and new in dispute resolution, commercial transactions and employment.
