Ben is a friendly, unflappable and professional Associate Solicitor who joined HMG in 2018 as one of our Private Client team, having previously trained and practised at a large national firm.
Based at our Bicester office, he specialises in Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Probates, Deputy applications, Court of Protection applications and Inheritance Tax Planning, providing up-to-date, practical and sensitive advice to clients in sometimes difficult situations. He relishes helping people clarify their thoughts and plans, bringing them peace of mind, lessening legal and paperwork burdens, and giving families back a feeling of control. “I enjoy the meetings and the personal interaction with people, he says. “I also enjoy the unusual cases and having to think around problems and scenarios.”
Ben always likes to build a personal connection and a rapport with his clients, meeting them face-to-face either at our offices or in the client’s own home. “I like to get an understanding of the family tree and to draw out a full understanding of the family situation, the family dynamics, their financial circumstances and their wishes (overall and specific). Then I can confidently provide legal advice and assistance suitable for each client’s own individual circumstances.”
This approach earns him sincere thanks and feedback, clients describing him as personable, kind, “patient and considerate”, quick and efficient, giving clear explanations in “a professional yet caring manner which immediately puts you at ease”. His colleagues echo this, regarding him as friendly, responsive and unflappable.
Ben describes HMG as “incredibly friendly and welcoming. They take a personal approach, not only with their clients but with their staff, and that approach makes it an enjoyable firm to work for. Hopefully that feeling then comes out in my dealings with my clients.”
Alongside his role at HMG, Ben is a member of Solicitors for the Elderly, and a Dementia Friends Champion delivering information sessions and spreading awareness on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society. He also juggles life with two young children and is a season-ticket holder at Reading Football Club.
“I am often helping clients and their families at very difficult and emotional times in their lives, so I must be in a position to reassure them and to provide some legal and practical clarity for them."
